The Corrs in Jakarta: A Harmonious Reunion Across Generations

On Saturday, February 8, Irish pop-rock legends The Corrs lit up Beach City International Stadium in Ancol with a concert that felt like a love letter to Jakarta.

Titled “The Corrs From Jakarta with Love,” the show drew a multigenerational crowd—loyal fans from the late ’90s and early 2000s mingled with Gen-Z newcomers discovering the band through streaming and social media.

Timeless Sound, Enduring Charm

The Corrs—siblings Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim—have always stood out for their unique blend of pop rock, traditional Irish folk, jazz, and blues. Their Jakarta setlist was a celebration of this signature sound, with hits like “Breathless,” “Radio,” and “What Can I Do” turning the stadium into a chorus of voices.

Andrea’s Elegant Presence

Andrea Corr, dressed in a sleek black gown, captivated the audience not just with her vocals but with her warm gestures and surprisingly fluent Bahasa Indonesia.

“The last time we were here, we knew we had to come back in such a beautiful way. We’re so happy to be here again, in your beautiful country,” she said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Nostalgia Meets New Energy

This was The Corrs’ third visit to Jakarta—after their 2001 peak and a 2023 return. For longtime fans, it was a nostalgic journey through the band’s evolution, including their 2015 comeback with White Light. For Gen-Z attendees, it was a fresh discovery, often sparked by family recommendations or the resurgence of ’90s music trends.

“So Young” and the Spirit of Togetherness

One of the night’s most poignant moments came during “So Young,” when fans of all ages sang in unison. The lyrics, celebrating youthful spirit, became a bridge between generations—proof that music truly is a universal language.
