Calvin Verdonk Optimistic Indonesia Will Defeat Bahrain

The Indonesian National Team held a training session at Madya Stadium, Jakarta, on Saturday (March 22) after arriving from Australia the previous day. The Garuda squad is aiming for the best results against Bahrain on Tuesday (March 25).

The training, led by coach Patrick Kluivert this afternoon, was attended by 26 players. Three players, Mees Hilgers, Sandy Walsh, and Ole Romeny, were absent. Previously, Indonesia had also trained at the same venue on Friday (March 21), but that session was only attended by the three goalkeepers: Emil Audero, Ernando Ari, and Nadeo Argawinata.

Indonesian national team defender Calvin Verdonk expressed his hope that the Garuda squad would rise and secure victory against Bahrain.

“I think we started well in Australia. We had complete control of the game. However, due to our own mistakes, they won. Let’s hope for a better result against Bahrain,” said Calvin Verdonk.

“We need to improve in set-pieces. This is also related to the attitude we show in set-pieces. If we can win duels in set-pieces, our opponents cannot win. So we must be better in set-pieces,” added the NEC Nijmegen player.

Currently, in the Group C standings, Indonesia is in fourth place with six points. The first place is occupied by Japan, followed by Australia and Saudi Arabia.
